Maj Gen Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Additional Director General of NCC Dte PHHP& C
Major General Jagdeep Singh Cheema on Friday assumed charge as 13th Additional Director General ADG) of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh (PHHP&C).
Major General Cheema will oversee the NCC Directorate PHHP&C, which comprises eight Group HQ located in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. The Directorate covers 56 districts, imparting training to approximately 1.5 lakh cadets in 2000 colleges and schools, focusing on overall youth development and molding future leaders.
Major General Cheema is a qualified instructor, having taught at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. His academic qualifications include two MPhil degrees and a PhD from Punjab University for research on “Critical Appraisal of Joint Warfighting Capabilities of Indian Armed Forces”.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and commissioned into 223 Medium Regiment in 1988, Maj Gen Cheema has held prestigious command and staff assignments, including UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea, and served as Defence Attache in the High Commission of India in Bangladesh.
He has commanded 223 Medium Regiment, an 19 Artillery Brigade in J&K and General Officer Commanding of 42 Artillery Division. He also served as GSO1 in Army HQ, Col Q in Divisional HQ, Col A in Corps HQ, Brig OL and MG Arty in a Command HQ.
