1. Organisation of NCC Directorate, Odisha. NCC Directorate is located at NCC Nagar, Plot No. G-41D, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswer and headed by DDG who is a Commodore rank officer from Indian Navy. Presently DDG is Commodore Somen Banerjee. Directorate has four groups (Koraput Gp is under raising) and 28 Battalions. It has cadets from Army, Navy and Air Force consist of both junior and senior boys and girls.

Commodore Somen Banerjee (03575-Z) was commissioned on 01 Jan 1990 as an Executive Officer. Subsequently, he specialized in Anti –Submarine Warfare. He has had extensive operational tenures in the Indo-Pacific, including the command of three frontline warships of the Indian Navy namely INS Prabal, INS Pralaya and INS Gomati. His Staff billets include Directorate of Naval Plans and Directorate of Staff Requirements in Naval Headquarters. He has also been a Directing Staff at DSSC, Wellington and completed his Higher Command from Naval War college, Karanja at Mumbai. His last appointment was DDG at Project Varsha.
The officer has served as a Senior Fellow in Vivekananda International Foundation, and the National Maritime Foundation, New Delhi. His area of research relates to maritime security and foreign policy. He is a post-graduate from the Madras University and M Phil from Mumbai University. At the Track 1.0 level the officer has represented the country at the United Nations in Geneva and at ASEAN forums. He has been a guest speaker at the National Defence College, New Delhi. At Track 2.0, he has presented papers in several international conferences.
He has authored two books- Maritime Power through Blue Economy (2018) and Sea of Collective Destiny: Bay of Bengal and BIMSTEC (2019). He has also published papers in Taylor & Francis and SAGE, and has written several issue briefs and commentaries. His publications can be accessed on URL somenbanerjee.com .
